Medical Exams for Canadian Permanent Residence
If you are applying for Permanent Residence (PR) in Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires you to undergo an immigration medical examination (IME). Panel Physician Calgary is fully authorized to perform these exams.
What to Expect for Your PR Medical
Your PR medical exam is a standard checkup to ensure you meet Canada's health requirements. The exam includes:
- A review of your medical history and current medications.
- A physical examination by our IRCC-approved panel physician.
- Age-specific lab tests (urine test for ages 5+, chest x-ray for ages 11+, blood test for ages 15+).
We do everything in one visit, and we submit your results directly to IRCC using the secure eMedical system. This speeds up your PR application process, usually taking only 5 to 10 days for submission.
Do I Need an Upfront Medical Exam?
Some PR categories (such as Express Entry) require an Upfront Medical Exam before you submit your application. If IRCC has already sent you a Medical Report form (IMM 1017), please bring it with you. If you are doing an upfront exam without a letter, that is no problem! We will create an eMedical file for you and give you an information sheet with a case number to upload to your IRCC portal.
